2010: MLF Camp is Founded.

Introduced as a pilot program to 40 children in the summer of 2010, our social outreach camp was offered to children between the ages of 8 and 14. The goal was to encourage them to think about how they could help those in need.

2011: I Survived Life on the Streets

This year's theme addressed the plight of the homeless trying to survive on the streets. Campers participated in activities to increase their awareness of the challenges others face.

2012: Get Tough on Povety

Enrollment grew rapidly as word spread about this special camp that introduced our children to the concept of truly seeing those around them and learning to help in ways appropriate for their age.

2013: Keep Austin Fed

The focus this year was how many hungry children and adults were in our very own schools and neighborhoods. Activities and games helped the kids to realize that there are many who are less fortunate.

2014: Service League

Our camp extended its boundaries beyond St. Thomas More. Also offered at St. Vincent de Paul, the idea of serving others was embraced by 400 children in the Greater Austin area.

2015: Life on the Streets

This year, camp achieved full enrollment in less than two weeks - a testament to our mission of educating our children about poverty in our communities, and how they can reach out in service to others.

2016: One Kingdom, One World, One People

This year, campers experienced different cultures from around the world, and realized all people have the same basic needs: love, food and shelter.

2017: Serve Those Who Serve

At this camp, campers learned about the challenges faced by veterans, service-people, and their families and how we can honor them through meeting their basic needs and showing them dignity.

2018: Fling Open the Doors!

Camp focused on the belief that God is asking us to “fling open our doors” to all in our neighborhoods, communities and beyond. To answer His call, we welcome all others with respect and love.

2019: Home

This year's mission was to teach our children how each of us can have a meaningful impact on the lives of the homeless in our community. This is love in action.

2021: In My Shoes

Everyone has a story. Campers stepped into the shoes of others of all ages, and learned about their life stories, the challenges they face, and their ongoing hopes.

2022: It’s Beyond Me!

The journey continued to encourage campers to embrace a “lifestyle of service”. To assist in achieving this goal, campers participated in a variety of activities to help them look beyond themselves.

2023: Ripple

Through acts of service to local charities, campers saw how seemingly small actions can have a huge impact in their community and beyond.

2024: Heroes Wanted!

In today's world, kids can be heroes through their acts of service within their communities. Whether it's feeding the hungry, organizing donation drives, or simply helping a neighbor in need, our campers step up to make a positive impact. By embodying values of kindness, compassion, and empathy, these young heroes are shaping a brighter future for all.
