What is Beyond Me?

Beyond Me represents many ideas. It is a philosophy, how we treat each other, a way of life, how we want the world to be. During camp, kids are informed about life’s challenges, involved in change and inspired to make a difference.

With fun and engaging activities, campers “step into the shoes” of others - experiencing some of what it’s like to be homeless, hungry, or without shelter. They are tasked with looking beyond themselves and striving to be a positive force in the community.

Elementary Program

*For children entering 1st-5th grades in the upcoming school year.

In the elementary program, campers learn the basics about those in need, and how they can help. Whether it’s making sandwiches for the homeless, stocking peas on the pea-shelf in the pantry or putting together a survival kit, they learn that they can do something meaningful to help others.

Middle School Program

*For children entering 6th-8th grades in the upcoming school year.

Our expanding middle school program uniquely blends camp activities & service opportunities. Building on the elementary program, campers “grow their skills” to take the next step.

Some of the things campers are involved in include mentoring younger campers, working with their friends and neighbors to collect items for the camp food drive, spreading awareness of important social issues, and participating as an important part of the solution.
